Thinking of Adopting a Cat?
The addition of a cat to your home as a family pet is a wise choice. Cats are loving, devoted and charming pets.However, they are a life-long responsibility and commitment. Before adopting, ask yourself the following questions:
Am I ready to make a long-term commitment?
Can I afford the cat?
Am I willing to commit to understanding basic cat behavior and training?
Is everyone in my household in favor of adopting a cat?
Once you decide that the time is right for a cat, there are a number of things that you should do to get your home ready for the new arrival:
A room alone: Prepare a room where the cat can live for the first few weeks. A small, isolated room, like a bathroom, is perfect. Place a cat bed, litter pan, and water and food bowls in the room. Do not push attention on the cat or make too many demands. She/he needs time to adjust and get used to the sounds and smells of your home. Be patient and move to the next step only when you are sure everyone is really ready.
Bringing home a second cat: Give the new arrival a room of his own and plan on a two week introductory period. Never force two animals to "interact." Accept that some hissing and posturing is normal and necessary; they will sort out who will be in charge.
Prepare the children: Introduce each child to the cat one at a time in a supervised visit. Remind them it is important to be gentle with and speak softly to the kitten and there will be plenty of time to play with the kitten later.
Adopt from Our RESCUE
There are many ways to adopt a cat you can go to your local no kill shelter or the pound. To adopt any homeless animal is so great and so many are in great need. We also have cats that can be adopted. Many of our cats live out side with exceptions of some of our mama cats that are in line to get fixed. All our adoptions are free all we ask is a donation of 25.00 so we can keep helping homeless cats in need. If you picked a mama cat that has not been fixed yet we will call and get her in to get that done for you. It is important that we find homes for our cats no animal wants to feel alone. Hello Here in Phoenix AZ we have a very big stray animal problem and it gets worse by the day. I like so many other rescues try to help where ever and whenever but there is a cost I can not bear alone! From time to time I reach out to you for some extra help I have been getting allot of calls and have hit a wall on what I can do.We are short $500 but need as much as we can get for feeding costs and I give donations to the place that dose the spay/neutering for us they will do most homeless free but I take so many in that I know they need help just as I do. Well this month I have 10 cats I need to get fixed before they have a chance to get pregnant again. This is what we are trying hard to stop so there are no more kittens born to homeless mama cats. please we are in great need and are trying hard to keep this going.

General Fostering Information
The goal of the Foster Program is to assist cats and increase their chances for adoption. The program requires that people provide a nurturing, clean environment in their home where the foster animal can receive the care it needs to mature, heal, or socialize. This critical step can dramatically improve the chances for the foster pet to find and adapt to a loving forever home. Some cats may need regular interaction and stimulation while others may just need peace and quiet during their stay. The time required for fostering varies depending on the cat's issues and the age; it can be as short as one week or could last for many months. We provide the food, supplies and medical care.

What if your cat has a home or you just adopted a stray can you use this service? Yes, you can it will be a discounted fee most are around 25$ to 30$ but you will just have to call and find out. But that is a great price most vets will run you 100 or more so its a really good deal all a part of the effort to stop homeless cats.

SET UP A FEEDING STATION OR SHELTER AT A FERAL
CAT COLONY .Feeding stations and shelters for free-roaming cats are relatively easy and inexpensive to set up. There are many options available from elaborate buildings to simple plastic bins. I have done this on my own back porch and it makes me feel good to see them have fresh water and food. Also if you live in a very hot or cold place you will need to provide shade or some old blankets you don't use anymore. To some it might sound like allot but it really takes very little to do so.
Now with feeding that comes out of pocket and can get costly some shelters can help you or give info where you can get free food or samples but for the most part its on you. You can ask for donations to help pay for food with the flyer's or adds telling others what your doing.
I have had a cat colony for about 4 years now and enjoy it so much. You get to know them all might even give them names like I do. Its really helped me in my life I feel like I'm making a difference. And in the 4 years I have seen a big decrease in how many cats are in the neighborhood. But it was not just me that did it like I said before you can make flyer's and ask others around you for help as well. I went to everyone on my block and so many helped me. Also from the flyer's I left on cars at stores I got an amazing response from people wanted to help donate it really made all the difference with out them I could have never payed for the food and stuff it takes to feed a cat colony by myself.
Just make sure you get them all Spay/Neutered you don't want your cat colony to keep growing. We need to stop it before it gets bigger then it already is. After you do that theres nothing wrong with feeding and caring for the homeless cats. They need it.

Alright now that you know little more about whats going on here are some things you can do to help. The first thing that stops many for helping is the cost. With whats going on in the world today not many of us have money to spend one anything other then our family.
HOW much will it cost me? The Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Project offers FREE spay/neuter services for feral/free-roaming cats in a safe, high quality, humane environment. cats receive a basic health exam, rabies vaccination and spay/neuter surgery. We also perform an ear tip to clearly identify the cat as altered in order to avoid future trapping/transport for surgery that is not needed. These services are all offered free of charge.
Yay!!! Now that you know that all you will have to do is call and they will help you with the rest. See this is a big help for so many reasons. One big one is there are so many animals homeless now that the shelters have no more room to take in and help anymore. So if we start helping with this and doing what we can the shelters will start to clear out and be able to help more in turn.

Never Forget
For a long time now there has been something on my mind. Homeless animals its a sad fact of life and even sadder to see everyday. When I first moved into our rented home almost five years ago I would see many animals all over. There were way more cats then dogs and I being a lover of cats could not bear to see them looking for food or any water they could find. I live in Phoenix AZ so in the summers its so hot like 116 in the day and 90 to 95 at night. Now if the news is telling you to bring your animals inside you know its hot. So I started to call no kill shelters and animal rescue facility's and really got no help there was no programs where someone would pick up homeless cats and take them in. All I found was animal rescue for dogs. Why you ask well they told me cats are wild and dogs are not. Well that did not sit well with me so I kep looking for something and what I found was the feral cat project. What they do is to reduce feline homelessness through trap, neuter/spay and then return to the place they were found.
WHY DO THESE CATS NEED OUR HELP?
Left unaltered, free-roaming cats continue to reproduce creating more homeless kittens. Through TNR, free-roaming cats live out their lives without adding to the homeless cat population. According to scientific studies, free-roaming cats gain weight and live healthier lives after being altered. TNR programs are proven to stabilize and significantly reduce the size of free-roaming cat colonies. By limiting free-roaming cat populations, fewer unwanted and homeless cats are taken to shelters
It is heart breaking to see animals that need us and so many just pay no mind to it. But if we all work together to help this then it will cut down the homeless cats by manys. I have started to do this and have taken it one step further buy not only trying to get all the cats in my neighborhood spayed or neutered but also find them homes as well. I put adds up on crags list and adds up in my local supermarkets. I print up flyers and put them on cars and so far I have found homes for 25 cats. Not alot but its something now you dont have to go as far as me but just getting them spay and neutered is whats going to make all the difference.
